Lillestrom vs Real Sociedad: a stoppage-time point in Prague, five goals in Malaga
Thomas Lehne Olsen scored in the first minute of stoppage time in Prague last Thursday to give Lillestrøm a 1-1 draw with Sparta and their first point of the league phase. Three days later he scored again, after 13 minutes of a 2-0 win at Sandefjord.
Real Sociedad also have one point from two games. They lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth on matchday one, then drew 1-1 at Union Saint-Gilloise, where Sekou Keita equalised on 88 minutes after Turrientes had scored straight after half-time.
Their league form is much stronger. On Saturday they won 5-2 at Málaga, with Oyarzabal scoring twice and Kubo, Óskarsson and Guedes also on the scoresheet, and they’re fifth in LaLiga with 16 points from nine games.
Thursday’s game is at Åråsen, Lillestrøm’s home ground, with kick-off at 8pm UK time. The clubs have never met in competition.
Real Sociedad are 1.50 to win, the draw is 4.33 and Lillestrøm are 5.00. Both teams to score is 1.75 and over 2.5 goals 1.62.
The Basque side’s defence worries us, with 17 goals conceded in nine league games. We still think they have enough going forward to win in Norway, on the back of three straight league wins and 11 goals in those games.
Lillestrom: unbeaten in four since a 3-0 defeat at Viking
Lillestrøm haven’t lost since Viking beat them 3-0 on 20 September. They’ve won 5-1 at Bærum in the cup, drawn 2-2 with Molde and 1-1 in Prague, and won 2-0 at Sandefjord on Saturday with goals from Olsen and Kitolano on 13 and 24 minutes.
Going into the weekend they were sixth in the Eliteserien with 36 points from 23 games: eleven wins, three draws, nine defeats and a goal difference of plus one.
Olsen, Vá and Gulbrandsen have six league goals each. Olsen also has three in this season’s Europa League including qualifying, the latest set up by Gustav Nordh in Prague.
Their only league phase home game so far went wrong. Torreense won 2-1 at Åråsen on 17 September through Álex Alfaro and Manu Pozo, and Olsen’s goal after coming on at the hour wasn’t enough, even with Torreense down to ten men after a second yellow card.
Hans Erik Ødegaard used a 4-3-3 in Prague: Dahlberg; Ranger, Gabrielsen, Kristiansen, Paintsil; Ibrahimaj, Ottosson, Nyheim; Bassi, Gulbrandsen, Vá. Garnås has been reported out with a knee injury, and Alperud is a doubt.

Real Sociedad: 17 LaLiga goals scored, 17 conceded, and four players missing
Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have been open in the league. Their 17 goals for and 17 against after nine games include wins of 3-2 at Valencia, 3-2 at home to Deportivo and 5-2 at Málaga.
Mikel Oyarzabal’s goals on 59 and 67 minutes on Saturday were his first of the season. Kubo had scored after three minutes and Óskarsson on 26, and Guedes added the fifth on 73.
Aramburu is out until November with a muscle injury, Odriozola has a knee problem and Beitia an ankle injury. Yangel Herrera came off at half-time in Brussels and is reported to have a calf injury.
Pablo Marín was sent off against Deportivo on 11 October, but the ban applies only to the league, and he came on in the Union game.
The side that won at Málaga lined up 4-4-2: Remiro; Aihen, Sarr, J. Martín, Fort; Barrenetxea, Gorrotxategi, Soler, Kubo; Óskarsson, Oyarzabal. Matarazzo has kept only 47% of his starting XI from one game to the next over the last six, and another league match follows three days after this one.
In Europe they’re still waiting for a win. Kluivert and Rayan scored for Bournemouth inside the first 20 minutes on matchday one, and Sergio Gómez’s goal on 58 minutes only halved the deficit.
Probable lineup Lillestrom: Dahlberg; Ranger, Gabrielsen, Kristiansen, Paintsil; Ibrahimaj, Ottosson, Nyheim; Bassi, Gulbrandsen, Vá
Probable lineup Real Sociedad: Not announced at time of publication
Free Europa League Prediction: Lillestrom vs Real Sociedad
Our prediction: Real Sociedad to win (1.50)
We’re backing Real Sociedad at 1.50. They’ve won their last three league games 3-2, 3-2 and 5-2, and Oyarzabal, Kubo, Óskarsson and Guedes all scored on Saturday. Lillestrøm lost their only league phase home game so far, against Torreense, a side that finished with ten men.
Against that, Real Sociedad concede almost two goals a game in LaLiga, they haven’t won in Europe yet, and Matarazzo rotates heavily. Lillestrøm have scored in both Europa League games and in four of their last five matches overall.
Even a rotated Real Sociedad side has more quality than the Torreense team that won at Åråsen in September. We expect the visitors to concede but to score more, and the away win at 1.50 is the pick.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes
A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Before placing a bet, simply check that gambling is legal in your country. If it isn’t, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
Responsible gambling
We can’t say it enough: gamble responsibly. If you’re struggling to stay in control, don’t wait to seek help.
