Elche vs Celta Vigo La Liga prediction

Elche vs Celta Vigo – Free Football Prediction – 11/10/2026

Elche vs Celta Vigo: the league’s worst home side meets a team that can’t win away La Liga

Zero points at home. That’s Elche’s record at the Martinez Valero after seven rounds of La Liga, and no side in the division has done worse in front of its own fans. All five of their points have come on the road.

It’s a strange stat for a club that survived last season almost entirely on home form: 35 of their 43 points came at the Martinez Valero. This time Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid have all left Elche with the win.

Celta Vigo arrive on Sunday, kick-off 14:00 Paris time, sitting 14th with seven points. Elche are 18th on five. Both clubs won their last game before the international break, and both badly want to keep that going.

The prices reflect a match nobody can call. Elche are at 2.80, Celta at 2.55. That’s as close as La Liga gets.

So where’s the angle? Look at how Elche’s games actually play out. They’ve lost 2-3 to Real Madrid, 2-3 to Real Sociedad, 3-2 at Racing Santander, then won 3-1 at Espanyol with ten men. Goals, everywhere. And in both league meetings last season, both teams scored. The pattern is hard to miss.

Elche: goals at both ends and a first home win still missing Elche

Elche went into the break on a high. Federico Redondo was sent off after barely five minutes at Cornella on 18 September, and Martin Anselmi’s side still won 3-1 against Espanyol. Fer Nino scored twice. It was the result that dragged them off the bottom.

That win doesn’t hide the defensive issues. Elche have conceded three or more in a game four times this season, and Barcelona put five past them at the Martinez Valero. Individual errors have been a recurring theme, and the back line still doesn’t look settled.

Redondo serves his suspension on Sunday.

The rest of the squad news is mixed. Lucas Cepeda only played 35 minutes for Chile during the break and was still travelling back to Spain on Thursday. Yago de Santiago is still recovering from a second knee operation. On the plus side, Buba Sangare has rejoined training after his muscle injury, and Roy Revivo is back from international duty with Israel.

Here’s what matters, though: Elche score. They found the net twice against Real Madrid and twice against Real Sociedad, both at home, both in defeat. Javi Morcillo, the 21-year-old who filled in at centre-back after the red card at Espanyol, has talked up a “chameleon” approach. Whatever shape they pick, they’ll attack in front of a full house.

Celta Vigo: a 5-0 win before the break, but still no away victory Celta Vigo

Celta had to wait until the final round before the international break to win a league game. When it came, it came big: 5-0 against promoted Racing Santander at Balaidos, with Pablo Duran scoring twice off the bench.

Before that, the start was grim. Home defeats to Osasuna (1-2) and Athletic Bilbao (0-2), a 1-1 draw with Malaga, then draws at Getafe (1-1) and Real Sociedad (0-0). Claudio Giraldez’s team also lost 1-0 at Omonia Nicosia in their Europa League opener.

Not exactly a side that frightens anyone on the road.

The injury list doesn’t help. Swedish defender Starfelt and midfielder El-Abdellaoui are out, while Caceres, Antanon and Iago Aspas are all doubts. Aspas missed the run-in before the break too, which leaves a lot of the creative burden on Moriba, Gonzalez and Aleix Febas. Febas will get a warm welcome: he was Elche’s standout player for three seasons before leaving on a free in the summer.

There’s also the calendar. Celta have Europa League football again on Thursday, and the rotation question is real. Can a side that hasn’t won a league game away from Balaidos this season suddenly lock one down in Elche? It’s hard to see.

Probable lineup Elche: Dituro; Ruben, Bigas, Chust, Revivo; Villar, Morcillo, Lemar; Cepeda, Nino, Valera
Probable lineup Celta Vigo: Radu; Rodriguez, Lago, Alonso; Rueda, Febas, Moriba, Alvarez; Gonzalez, Jutgla, Swedberg

Our prediction: Both teams to score – Yes

Elche have scored in every home game except the Barcelona thrashing, and they’ve conceded at least twice in all three. Celta just put five past Racing and found the net against Osasuna, Malaga and Getafe too. Neither defence inspires much confidence, and neither side is set up to sit on a draw.

The head-to-head points the same way. Elche won 2-1 at home last season, Celta won 3-1 at Balaidos. Both teams scored in both games.

The 1X2 market can’t split these sides, and we won’t try either. Goals at both ends is the bet at the Martinez Valero.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
