A debut that needed one shot
Vivien Endemann took one shot at The Valley. She scored it, controlling the ball before hammering it into the roof of the net. Liverpool’s summer signing from Wolfsburg also set up a second goal and created five chances in total, and the 4-0 win over WSL newcomers Charlton Athletic left little doubt about what the German brings down the right flank.
Only two Liverpool players had previously managed two or more goal involvements on their WSL debut for the club: Grace Fisk in September 2025 and Gemma Davidson back in October 2014. Endemann joined that list inside 90 minutes.
Her directness travelled with her from Germany. She completed three dribbles, level with the most by any player on the opening matchday, attempted five in all, and produced two carries that ended in a chance created. Only Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp managed more of those across the weekend.

Fisk doubled a four-year output in one afternoon
The captain scored twice at Charlton. Across the previous four campaigns and 79 appearances, Fisk had scored twice in total. That is the sort of number that reframes a season before it has properly begun.
The goals were not even the most striking part of her afternoon. Fisk attempted 122 passes, more than any player on matchday one, and completed 121 of them. A 99.2% completion rate is the highest recorded by a Liverpool player who went the full 90 minutes in a WSL match on record. She added three aerial duels won, with only Everton’s Rion Ishikawa (six) claiming more anywhere in the division.
The defensive number carries the warning
Liverpool held Charlton to 0.08 expected goals, the lowest total they have conceded in a WSL fixture since Opta records began in 2017-18. It came against a side making its top-flight debut, which tempers the achievement a little.
At the other end they generated 2.35 xG, their best in a single WSL game since a 3.02 return against Manchester United in May 2024. Ceri Holland attempted three shots from inside the box, more than any player over the weekend. Charlton’s introduction to the division was not a gentle one.
