Ten-nothing, and Washington still won
Portland opened the game on a 10-0 run. Washington trailed by double digits in the first quarter, again in the second, again in the third. The Mystics won 105-100 and clinched a WNBA playoff spot.
Shakira Austin carried it. Thirty-one points, a career high, plus 10 rebounds. Thirteen of those points came in the second quarter, while Portland was still dictating everything, and she capped the first half with a three-point play 34 seconds before the buzzer.

The fourth quarter belonged to Amoore and Iriafen
Washington trailed 70-65 going into the last twelve minutes. Michaela Onyenwere tied it at 76 with a three-pointer at 7:28. Kiki Iriafen scored two tiebreaking layups. Georgia Amoore hit a three at 5:24 for an 85-80 lead, then another at 3:41 that made it 92-85.
Portland had one push left. Amoore was called for a flagrant-1 on Carla Leite with 3:25 remaining. Leite made three free throws and drove for a layup on the next possession to cut the gap to two. Washington answered with the next eight points.
Iriafen finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sonia Citron had 14 and six assists. Cotie McMahon and Amoore scored 13 each.
Portland shot well and lost anyway
The Fire hit 13 of 28 from three and shot 48.6 percent overall. They went 15 for 15 at the free throw line. None of it was enough. Washington shot 54.1 percent from the field, went 32 for 44 at the line and out-rebounded Portland 38-25.
Leite posted 27 points and 11 assists. Emily Engstler scored 23 on 5-of-7 shooting from deep and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Megan DiLeo added 21 and Bridget Carleton 18. Portland drops to 15-22.
Washington is 22-15 and back in the postseason field.
