WNBA : Olivia Miles keeps rising with the Minnesota Lynx
A few weeks ago, Olivia Miles was still getting her first real taste of the WNBA. Now Minnesota is leaning on her when it matters most. Against Toronto, the 19-year-old guard took another step forward, finishing with 24 points and 8 assists to steer the Lynx to an eighth straight win, 100-93.
Her night was about more than the numbers. When the Tempo slowly wiped out the lead and got back within two possessions in the final quarter, it was Miles who settled things down again. She found Antonia Delaere beyond the arc more than once before finishing the job herself with a decisive drive to the rim. The rookie never looked rattled.
Toronto kept the leaders honest for a long stretch
The final score does not tell the full story. Missing several key players, including Brittney Sykes, Nyara Sabally and Isabelle Harrison, the Tempo still went toe to toe with the leaders for much of the night. Marina Mabrey, Laura Juskaite and Maria Conde kept the Canadian side in it right up until the closing minutes.
Even when Minnesota pushed out to more than 10 points clear in the third quarter, Toronto had enough left to claw back to 89-87 with a 12-point run. The Lynx then had to dig out their best stuff to avoid a far messier finish.

The Lynx are finding fresh answers
The win also underlines that Minnesota no longer lives and dies with Napheesa Collier alone. Kayla McBride again had a major say in the offence, while Antonia Delaere changed the final quarter with three timely three-pointers.
But Olivia Miles remains the big takeaway here. Game by game, the guard is taking on more responsibility and looks more and more comfortable as the main creator when defences tighten up. The Lynx will face Toronto again in Canada on the very next day, with a chance to stretch the streak even further.
