Wembanyama sets the pace
Victor Wembanyama scored a season-high 43 points on Saturday night as San Antonio beat Minnesota 121-111 for a fourth straight win. He also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked six shots, and 24 of his points came before halftime, more than anyone else on the floor. That is a long way past the 36 he scored in overtime against Utah earlier this week.
It was far from smooth. The Spurs led 46-35 in the second quarter, then watched Minnesota string together 16 unanswered points to move in front 51-46. Two straight threes from Wembanyama dragged San Antonio back to 61-60 at the break.

A fourth-quarter burst settles it
Dylan Harper finished with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and De’Aaron Fox added 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Jonathan Kuminga’s three-pointer kept Minnesota within 93-88 going into the fourth, but a 12-2 Spurs run made it 101-88. Jaden McDaniels cut the gap to four midway through the period. San Antonio answered with a 6-2 spurt, and Wembanyama’s three with 2:40 left made it 118-107.
Minnesota short of bodies
The Timberwolves played without Anthony Edwards (knee), Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles surgery) and Rudy Gobert (back spasms). Ayo Dosunmu led them with 27 points and nine rebounds, while McDaniels and Kuminga each scored 19. LaMelo Ball managed 10 points on 2-for-10 shooting and fouled out. Minnesota has now lost three of its last four.
