Vinicius ties his future to Real until 2032
The saga is over. Real Madrid confirmed last night in an official statement that Vinicius Jr has signed a new deal through to 2032. The Brazil No. 7, who arrived from Flamengo in 2018, has committed himself for another six seasons.
The announcement came just hours after the club also sealed the signing of Yan Diomande. It was a busy night for Florentino Perez, who wrapped up two major deals in quick succession.

A financial battle the player has won
The ending is no small thing. For months, Madrid’s board had been locked in a tough round of talks with the Brazilian’s camp. Saudi Arabia came calling last winter, then Arsenal were linked this summer, and plenty had already tipped the winger to leave the Spanish capital.
Vinicius had been pushing for a net salary of 30 million euros a year, bonuses included, plus a specific signing-on fee. Real eventually raised their offer in the final hours. The Brazilian will not leapfrog Kylian Mbappe on the payroll, but his new salary should top 25 million euros net a year.
Mourinho keeps hold of his attacking ace
Jose Mourinho is said to have played a big part in the deal. The Portuguese coach keeps one of Europe’s most feared forwards, with 12 months left on his contract. That was the real risk here: without an extension, Vinicius could have walked away for free next summer. Real have shut down a sporting, media and financial headache in one stroke of the pen.
Now he has to deliver on the pitch. Since arriving in 2018, the left-footer has become a club leader and a key figure for Brazil. His new contract ties him to the Bernabeu until he is 32.
