WNBA: Valkyries bury Wings behind 12 threes, 94-76

A dozen from deep decides it

Golden State turned the three-point line into a weapon in Dallas on Friday, sinking 12 triples on the way to a 94-76 win over the Wings at American Airlines Center. The Valkyries shot 46.5 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from range, marks that Dallas never came close to matching.

The pattern is familiar for the Wings. This was the seventh time this season they have surrendered double-digit threes, and they are now 2-5 in those games. When an opponent finds that kind of rhythm from outside, Dallas has rarely climbed back.

Bueckers leads, but the passing dries up

Paige Bueckers paced Dallas with 17 points, one of three players in double figures. Aziaha James added 13, her most since a season-high 18 against Seattle back on June 22. The scoring came in flashes. The link between those flashes did not.

Dallas finished with eight assists, the lowest single-game total for the franchise since 2019. A team shooting 33.9 percent from the floor needs easier looks, and instead the ball stuck. The Wings did reach the line 38 times, their most since 2022, yet 71.1 percent shooting there left points behind.

The standings tilt

Golden State climbs to 22-9 and keeps pressing near the top of the table. Dallas drops to 19-13 and misses a chance to close on the contenders above. The Wings host again soon, and the fix is not a mystery. Chase shooters off the line and move the ball when the offense stalls.
