US Open: Gea v Zheng, start time and where to watch the lucky loser’s big day

A lucky loser two wins into a Grand Slam

Arthur Gea lost in qualifying. He is still playing. The Frenchman got into the US Open main draw as a lucky loser, won twice, and has now reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. Waiting for him is Michael Zheng, unseeded as well, with a New York crowd that will be firmly on the American’s side.

Grandstand hosts the match on Saturday 5 September. The session opens at 11:00am ET, 17h00 in France, though two women’s matches are ahead of him: Madison Keys against Qinwen Zheng, then Iga Swiatek against Marie Bouzkova. Third on a court like that usually means an evening start, allowing for the usual scheduling chaos.

How not to miss his first serve

Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 split the New York coverage through the day. Grandstand gets shown often enough, but nobody can promise this particular match makes the cut. HBO Max with Sport access removes the doubt: both channels, plus the court-by-court event streams, on TV, laptop or phone.

Schedule subject to change by the tournament organisers or broadcaster.
