A full-back nobody seems to pick
165 points. That is what Adrien Truffert delivered last season in Fantasy Premier League. Sixth-best defender in the overall rankings. Twenty-eight more than Bournemouth’s next-best player, Marcus Tavernier, who finished on 137.
And yet, almost nobody is backing him.
The Frenchman has opened 2026-27 in the same vein. Seven defensive contributions in the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City, three shy of the threshold that earns points in his position. Going forward, he is still a creator: one goal and five assists in the league last season. Everton head to the Vitality Stadium with Iliman Ndiaye in his channel. There should be work to do at both ends.

Bournemouth defend their own patch
The context helps. Bournemouth conceded just 20 home goals last season. Only Arsenal (11) and Manchester City (14) were better across the whole Premier League. Six clean sheets at the Vitality, a total only four clubs beat.
Marco Rose is still searching for rhythm after replacing Andoni Iraola. The defensive base, though, has not changed.
The same logic applies at Sunderland. Robin Roefs finished as the third-best fantasy keeper last season with 136 points, behind Caoimhin Kelleher (143) and David Raya (162). Seven home clean sheets, and only Arsenal and City managed more. Fulham arrive at the Stadium of Light after scoring 17 away goals across an entire season. Only relegated Wolverhampton did worse.
Gakpo keeps shooting, and shooting
At Liverpool, the spotlight goes elsewhere. Szoboszlai, Van Dijk, Wirtz, Isak. Cody Gakpo, meanwhile, slips under the radar despite producing 12 goal involvements last season, the club’s fourth-best total.
More than anything, he gets shots away. 87 league attempts last year. Liverpool’s next-best in that department, Szoboszlai, managed 71, and he takes the free-kicks. Against Newcastle, the Dutchman levelled the match and posted one of the weekend’s top fantasy returns: only four midfielders scored more points than him.
One question remains. Transfer talk is doing the rounds before the window shuts.
