Transfer latest: Raul Jimenez is back with Wolves in the Championship, Trippier is already there
The return is official. Raul Jimenez is back at Wolverhampton, five years after leaving the club. The 35-year-old Mexico striker, released by Fulham when his contract expired, has signed a two-year deal at Molineux with an option for a third season. He has already completed his medical. Freshly relegated to the Championship, Wolves have landed their second free signing of the summer after Kieran Trippier arrived, also on a two-year deal after leaving Newcastle.
Between 2018 and 2023, Jimenez scored 57 goals in 166 matches for Wolves and was named the club’s player of the year twice. His permanent move from Benfica cost 38 million euros at the time. At the Eagles, he won two league titles and scored 31 goals in 120 appearances. After two seasons at Fulham, where he hit 31 goals in 115 games in all competitions, the striker is heading home with the experience and steel of a player who has seen it all at the top level.

A clear mission: get Wolves back to the Premier League
Jimenez arrives with one job in mind: help Wolverhampton go straight back up. The West Midlands club came crashing down after a dreadful season, and the board has opted for experience and leadership in the hope of an immediate response. Alongside Trippier, the former England international also looking for redemption, the pair could form a solid base for the Championship rebuild.
On the international stage, Jimenez is currently away with Mexico as they compete in the World Cup on home soil. Mexico are leaning on his experience and goalscoring instincts to go deep in the tournament. Once the World Cup is done, the striker will link up with his new teammates to prepare for what should be a long, punishing Championship campaign for Wolves, who are determined not to hang around in the second tier.
