Three appearances. That was David Odogu’s entire season at AC Milan, and he is 20 years old. Toulouse have stepped in to fix that.
RedBird signs off on the loan internally
Toulouse announced the German centre-back’s arrival late on Tuesday afternoon. He joins on loan from Milan. The purple club confirmed it on its social channels, billing him as a European and world champion at Under-17 level.
Shared ownership did most of the work here. RedBird Capital Partners has controlled TFC since 2020 and Milan since 2022, so nobody had to negotiate across a table.
Odogu plays in the middle of defence and lands in Ligue 1 with a youth trophy cabinet unusual for a player his age.

Three games in one season at Milan
Milan paid 7 million euros last summer to take him from Wolfsburg. Very little came back. Three matches across an entire campaign, and the pecking order at centre-back never cracked open for him.
A year without regular football does lasting damage to a 20-year-old. That is the real reason for this move.
Toulouse are offering what Milan could not: minutes, and a role that is actually defined. Their recruitment has been built on exactly this profile for years, young players with an obvious ceiling who cannot get on the pitch somewhere bigger.
A busy day for Toulouse
Tuesday was crowded. A few hours after the Odogu announcement, Foot Mercato reported that Dayann Methalie’s move to Sunderland had stalled. Thomas Jørgensen had already signed a four-year deal earlier in the week.
Centre-back is where Toulouse have spent most of their energy in this window. Odogu brings power and unfinished edges rather than a guarantee.
No option to buy was announced. Whether one appears will come down to how often he actually gets on the pitch.
