The history of the Pistons is defined by the "Bad Boys" era of the 1980s, led by Isiah Thomas, who won back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990. A second major peak came in 2004, when Detroit shocked the NBA by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals with a team led by Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, and Ben Wallace.

The Pistons play at the Little Caesars Arena. Today, the Pistons are in a rebuilding phase, relying on young talent to regain their status as a competitive franchise in the Eastern Conference.
