Game 5. Shanghai. Silence.
It had to come to this. Five maps, no fewer, to decide The International 2026, and Team Spirit came out of it 3-2 winners over TEAM VISION at the Oriental Sports Center on Sunday.
Nobody in Dota 2 had ever lifted the Aegis of Champions three times. Now somebody has.
Almost nobody saw it coming, either. VISION were the pick going in. Spirit were filed under serious outsiders, which is a polite way of saying not favourites.

Three Aegis each, and counting
Yatoro and Collapse walk away from Shanghai with a line on their record no other player can match. Three titles apiece.
Their coach has the same number. Yaroslav Naidenov, Miposhka to everyone in the scene, won his first two with a mouse in his hand and alongside those same two players. This one he watched from the bench.
That is the part worth sitting with. This is not a roster rebuilt around a surviving core. It is the core itself, still winning, across three separate eras of competitive Dota.
Eleven days, and a run through the lower bracket
The event ran from 13 to 23 August. Spirit dropped into the lower bracket and climbed back out of it to reach the final, which will not sit easily with anyone who wrote them off in the group stage.
The final went the distance. Both sides were taken to the edge of elimination. In the decider, Spirit did not blink.
Next year the rest of the field arrives in a different position: chasing.
