Five matches, one map dropped
Team Liquid have not lost an LCS match this summer. They came closer than usual this morning, and they still walked off 2-1 winners over Shopify Rebellion.
That leaves them 5-0 in the standings and 10-1 on maps. The single blemish landed on the opening map, a 36-minute defeat that ended a run of four straight sweeps. Liquid answered by taking the next two in 28 and 36 minutes.
Sean “Yeon” Sung carried the scoreline with a 16/6/12 kill-death-assist line across the series. Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in did the quieter work, racking up 35 assists.

LYON refuse to go away
The other match went to LYON, who swept Cloud9 in 47 and 35 minutes. Park “Thanatos” Seung-gyu, Edward “Tactical” Ra and Lee “Loki” Sang-min each averaged at least two kills per map in a spread-out performance.
LYON sit second at 4-1 and 9-2 on maps. Sentinels are third at 4-2. Shopify Rebellion and Cloud9 share fourth on 3-2, FlyQuest are sixth at 2-4, Disguised seventh at 1-5, and Dignitas have yet to win a match at 0-6.
Sunday settles it, or reopens it
Liquid play LYON later today. Win, and the No. 1 seed belongs to them with a week of the regular season still to run. Lose, and the pair sit level at 5-1 with the argument wide open again.
The stakes reach past seeding. The LCS Summer Split, an eight-team round robin that opened on July 25, sends its top two straight through to the playoff semifinals. Third through sixth drop into the quarters. The bottom two are eliminated.
Playoffs run from September 12 to October 4, best-of-five and double elimination. The top three qualify for the World Championship, staged across New York, Los Angeles and Allen, Texas, from October 15 to November 14.
Cloud9 face Shopify Rebellion in the day’s other match with fourth place on the line.
