Two straight sweeps to close it out
Team Falcons won the Rocket League event at the Esports World Cup in Paris overnight. They brushed aside both of their final opponents by the same scoreline, 4-0.
First Karmine Corp in the semi-finals. Then Spacestation Gaming in the final. Both teams had arrived unbeaten in the tournament.
Falcons banked $400,000 from a $1 million prize pool for this event alone. They had gone through the group stage without dropping a series, then knocked out Twisted Minds 4-2 in Saturday’s quarter-finals.

Karmine Corp blown away in four games
The semi-final was over fast. Falcons opened with a 6-3 win on Beckwith Park, then edged a 1-0 on Forbidden Temple. A 1-0 on DFH Stadium and a 3-2 on Utopia Coliseum finished the job.
The Bakhashwin brothers did the damage. Yazid “Kiileerrz” and Saleh “Rw9” scored four goals apiece. Rw9 also added four assists.
For Karmine, Tristan “Atow.” Soyez stood out with two goals, two assists and seven saves. It still wasn’t enough. The French club finish fourth after losing the third-place match 3-0 to Ninjas in Pyjamas eStar.
The other semi-final went much deeper. Spacestation needed all seven games to get past NIP, sealing it with a 4-0 in the decider on Parc de Paris. Brazilian Joao “diaz” Henrique scored eight of his team’s 18 goals.
Falcons move top of the club standings
In the final, Falcons needed overtime to nick the first game 3-2 on Beckwith Park. After that it was a lot cleaner: 3-1, 4-1, 3-0. Samy “dralii” Hajji scored seven goals. Rw9 was named tournament MVP.
The 1,000 points on offer for the win push Falcons to the top of the Esports World Cup club standings on 4,400 points, 300 ahead of AG.AL International.
There is plenty at stake. The winner of the overall club table gets $7 million. The event will hand out more than $75 million in total, with $30 million split via the club rankings and more than $45 million across the game-by-game events.
The Esports World Cup features 25 events across 24 games and runs until August 23. Falcons have put themselves in prime position. The cheque is still there for the taking.
