A sigh, then a long answer
Jayson Tatum had just helped Boston beat the New York Knicks 107-103 in the Celtics’ home opener when the question came. Had he seen Jaylen Brown’s social media comment? Tatum sighed. Then he talked for several minutes, according to ESPN.
His first line was blunt. He has no animosity, no beef and no ill will toward Brown. What bothers him is the conversation around the team. Since Brown left, Tatum said, the talk has drifted away from what the Celtics built together: the wins, the growth, the championship.

“Too old” for this on the internet
Tatum insisted he did not stay silent when the trade happened. He called and texted Brown the day he was moved, he said, and he understands that people process news in their own way. He also pushed back on the Shaq and Kobe comparison, the famously strained pairing in Los Angeles. This is not that, he argued. Drama draws clicks and views, and he is not interested in feeding it.
His door is open, though. If Brown wants to talk, Tatum said, they are both too old to have their relationship picked apart online, and he would welcome a real conversation. He added that he has always wanted the best for his former teammate and has said so in public.
