Two-year deal in Turkey
Trabzonspor wasted no time getting this one over the line. The Turkish club confirmed the signing of Fabinho on Monday night, just days after the first reports of the move. The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder has signed for two seasons and will wear number 6.
The announcement came via the club’s social channels, in Portuguese: “Bem-vindo a familia Trabzonspor”. Fabinho leaves Al-Ittihad after three seasons in Saudi Arabia. He is back in European football at a key stage of his career.

A reunion with Mohamed Salah
In Trabzon, the Brazilian won’t be walking into unfamiliar surroundings. Mohamed Salah joined the club this summer and the pair know each other inside out. They shared a dressing room at Liverpool for five seasons, from 2018 to 2023.
Together, they lifted the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020. Before his spell in England, Fabinho had already built a strong reputation at AS Monaco, where he was part of the side that won the Ligue 1 title in 2017. That’s a serious CV for any dressing room.
Trabzonspor means business
The timing works nicely for the Bordo-Mavi. Trabzonspor sit second in the Super Lig after two rounds and are clearly targeting the top end of the table this season.
The club’s plan is easy enough to read: bring in players who know how to win. Salah first, Fabinho next. Now we’ll see what this duo, whose last spell together ended three years ago, can still produce on the pitch.
