Five goals, none conceded
Fifteen goals in four games. One conceded. That is what Philadelphia has done since August 29, and San Diego just took the worst of it, beaten 5-0 at home overnight. The Union are 10 matches unbeaten now, eight wins and two draws since play resumed after the World Cup.
Cavan Sullivan opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time. The 16-year-old struck again in the 62nd minute from a tight angle on the left, beyond Duran Ferree. First brace of his career, sixth goal of the season, and a seventh straight match with a goal or an assist.
Bruno Damiani made it 3-0 in the 67th, right-footed from the middle of the box after Frankie Westfield and Sullivan worked it to him. Anibal Godoy turned one into his own net in the 87th. Malik Jakupovic added the fifth just before the whistle.

A red card that lasted about ninety seconds
It was still goalless when Alejandro Alvarado caught Milan Iloski on the head with the ball. Red card, initially. VAR pulled the footage, and the call came back down to a booking. Careless, not dangerous.
San Diego kept 11 men. What the referee did add was five minutes of stoppage time. Sullivan handled the rest.
Andre Blake made five saves for a third straight clean sheet, his sixth of the season. Ferree, at the other end, was not asked to make one.
Thirty-three points, and a playoff place
Philadelphia have won their last two games 10-0 on aggregate, their last three 12-0 and their last four 15-1.
That is 33 points from 25 matches, and an Eastern Conference playoff spot. Only St. Louis City SC, on a 15-game run, has a longer active streak in MLS.
San Diego have now lost three in a row. They sit on 30 points, and on Sunday night they watched the team below them climb over the top.
