A sharp response after a flat opener
The Rams started their season with a thumping, going down 27-7 to the 49ers in Melbourne on September 10. They answered in Inglewood last night by beating the Giants 28-6.
Matthew Stafford finished 22 of 31 for 327 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Both teams now sit at 1-1.
The quarterback got the scoring going with a 31-yard strike to Davante Adams with 11 seconds left in the first quarter. Kyren Williams added a 10-yard touchdown in the second, Adams struck again from 11 yards in the third, and Terrance Ferguson wrapped it up with 8 minutes 57 remaining on a 5-yard grab.

Two historic markers on the same night
That outing pushes Stafford further up the league’s all-time ladder. With 427 career touchdown passes, he is now two clear of Philip Rivers and sixth on the NFL’s all-time list. It was also his 22nd game with four or more touchdowns.
Adams was hardly quiet. Eight catches, 195 yards, his fourth-best total in a game and just 11 shy of his personal best. His two scores took him to 119 career touchdowns, leaving him two behind Larry Fitzgerald in sixth on the all-time list.
The Rams did all that without Puka Nacua, who missed out with a hip injury. Adams carried the load.
New York lost its quarterback on the opening drive
The Giants’ night went sideways almost immediately. Jaxson Dart took a hit to his left knee on the opening drive, sandwiched between Byron Young up top and Josaiah Stewart down low, with 11 minutes 20 left in the first quarter. He was able to walk off the field. The extent of the injury was still unclear after the game.
Jameis Winston stepped in and went 11 of 27 for 111 yards and one interception. Dominic Zvada supplied New York’s only points with two field goals from 24 and 52 yards.
Malik Nabers hurt his right shoulder late in the first quarter before returning in the second. He finished with one catch for one yard. It was John Harbaugh’s second game in charge of the Giants. The one bright spot came from Jevon Holland, who picked off Stafford and also forced and recovered a fumble from Williams.
