Sergi Roberto heads to MLS
Sergi Roberto has found his next club. Los Angeles Galaxy confirmed his signing on Friday. The Spaniard arrives on a free, no transfer fee involved. He has agreed a deal through June 30, 2028, with an option for another season, subject to a visa being granted.
He comes in after two seasons at Como 1907 in Serie A. Before Italy, there were 18 years at FC Barcelona. One club for almost an entire career. More than 400 appearances for club and country, and 25 trophies in the famous Barcelona shirt.

A familiar Barcelona crowd already in place
In California, Sergi Roberto will not be on his own. He links up with Riqui Puig, his former Barca team-mate, already settled into the Galaxy setup. The versatile midfielder will take up one of the club’s foreign-player spots.
His arrival feeds a clear trend. MLS has been drawing former Barca players for years. Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, Luis Suarez, Riqui Puig before him. Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, for their part, hung up their boots at the end of 2025. The North American league keeps raiding the Catalan talent pool.
A fresh start across the Atlantic
For Sergi Roberto, the American move feels like a reset. He reached the top at Barcelona, collecting domestic and European silverware by the truckload. He wore the Spain shirt too. MLS now hands him a different stage for the next chapter, at an ambitious club, in front of a crowd already sold on the idea before he has kicked a ball.
