Serie A: Samuele Ricci joins Como on loan from AC Milan

A 22 million euro midfielder, on loan, to a club playing Champions League football

Como confirmed it on Saturday afternoon. Samuele Ricci arrives from AC Milan on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option to buy attached.

The Como 1907 statement is unambiguous about the shape of the deal. Ricci was tied to the Rossoneri until 2029, and Transfermarkt puts his value at 22 million euros.

He is 25, with 11 Italy caps, and he played 34 games for Milan last season. Players like that do not usually get loaned out to clear a squad spot.

What Como get out of it

The detail that reframes the whole thing: Como qualified for the Champions League. So this is not squad filler for a mid-table side. It is a full international walking into a team about to play European football’s biggest fixtures.

Clubs of Como’s size do not normally get near this profile without paying the full fee up front. A loan with an option spreads the cost and buys them a season to find out whether it works. Milan hold onto the control and avoid writing off a 22 million euro asset.

Milan are still moving pieces

San Siro has had a hectic few days. Hours before the Ricci announcement, Galatasaray confirmed they had opened formal talks with the Rossoneri over Rafael Leao. Selling, loaning, reshaping, all at once.

Ricci’s own calculation is simpler. Thirty-four appearances is a decent return, but a 25-year-old midfielder with an Italy place to defend cannot spend a season fighting for scraps of the rotation.

How Como use him is the open question, and whether that option gets triggered in June will depend on his form and on how far the club’s European run takes them.
