Eight years, one of the great Anfield love stories, and now it is over. Mohamed Salah has a new home. Out of contract at Liverpool since 30 June, the Egyptian has signed for Trabzonspor, a two-year deal the Turkish club confirmed on Thursday.

The 34-year-old winger walks away from the Premier League for a competition he has never sampled, the Super Lig. Trabzonspor saw off a queue of suitors to land him. Clubs in Saudi Arabia and MLS had been sniffing around, and Besiktas fancied their chances too. Trabzonspor moved fastest.
