A 1am start for the defending champion

Round one barely raised her heart rate. Aryna Sabalenka, world No. 1 and defending champion at Flushing Meadows, opens her second round against qualifier Polina Iatcenko, and she does so with half the women’s draw already looking shakier than expected after a run of nervous seeds in New York.

The match opens the night session on Arthur Ashe Stadium. It runs on the night of Wednesday 2 into Thursday 3 September, from 1am French time. Carlos Alcaraz follows on the same court against Jaime Faria, expected around 2:30am.

French coverage of the US Open 2026 sits with Eurosport, which is carrying the tournament in full and splitting the marquee matches across Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2. Arthur Ashe is the main court, so Sabalenka lands near the top of the schedule.
