Game boils over in Pretoria
Menlopark were leading Dr E.G. Jansen 36-5 in the second half of the Noordvaal Cup school derby on Saturday. Then things turned ugly. An old Menlopark pupil made a comment about the scoreboard to an opposition player, and the temperature shot up instantly.
The remark, reported by Caxton Network News, was enough to light the fuse. A Dr E.G. Jansen player vaulted the barrier near the try line.

All-out melee caught on camera
Players, parents and former pupils from both sides were involved. Videos spread across social media from Saturday night. The match was stopped there and then, with no chance of restarting.
Noordvaal Cup committee chairman Tinus Diedericks confirmed that a report has been requested from both schools. “What happened should never happen on a rugby field, there is no place for it,” he said.

Schools vow to punish those involved
Menlopark governing board chairman Japie de Wet condemned the incident and said an internal investigation would follow. His Dr E.G. Jansen counterpart, Riaan van Aswegen, said the school needed time to establish the facts before making any decision.
Former Springboks have also waded into the row. Kobus Wiese has called for lifetime bans for any parents, officials or players found guilty. Other social media users slammed both sides for a total lack of sportsmanship.
