Five straight defeats and 17th place
Seventeenth. Nobody in Marseille had that on the board when the season kicked off.
OM lost the Classique 2-1 to PSG, a fifth consecutive defeat across all competitions. Bruno Genesio is back in the firing line, and Daniel Riolo went after him on RMC’s L’After Foot.
The pundit started with the manager’s public messaging. “Since August 31 and the end of the transfer window suspense, around the Paixao case, I think Bruno Genesio’s communication has been catastrophic,” he said.

Riolo did not stop at the style of it. He turned Genesio’s own complaints back on him, the ones about a board that supposedly promised four signings over the summer and delivered nothing.
“If you’re a top-level coach and you’re massively disappointed because you were promised four signings and they didn’t arrive, if you think you’ve been sold a dummy: then you should just go,” the pundit snapped.
Then came the dressing room. Riolo reckons a weekly diet of defeatism eventually gets into players’ heads. “If you keep saying every week that your team is rubbish, you’re going to start getting into your players’ heads too.”
Ten days of silence, and then what?
The RMC pundit is ruling nothing out. “Today, it is possible that Genesio won’t be there when they come back from the break. It is possible he leaves,” he said.
Nothing official has come from the club. This is a journalist’s projection, not a line from the Marseille hierarchy. It still lands in an ugly atmosphere: Foot Mercato report that Genesio wants Frank McCourt to speak publicly, and the treatment room still holds Paixao and Harit.
The international break buys ten days of relative quiet. In Marseille, those windows rarely calm anything down.
