Evans bounces back in the Tour Card Holder qualifier
Ricky Evans wasted no time recovering from a bad week. A day after he failed to lock down a place at the World Darts Championship, the Englishman won through the Tour Card Holder qualifier on Friday and booked his place at the Grand Slam of Darts. It is the second year running he has taken that route, and he reached the quarter-finals last time.
Evans beat Thomas Lovely, Willie O’Connor and Cristo Reyes in the decisive round. It was a rare piece of good news in a season he has found brutal, one that ended with him missing out on Ally Pally through the ProTour rankings.

Springer sets the pace, Cullen edges Smith
Niko Springer produced the standout number of the day, a 112.25 average, to secure his own ticket to Wolverhampton. Stephen Bunting and Bradley Brooks also qualified on ton-plus averages, and Joe Cullen made it by beating Michael Smith in his final game.
The ten qualifiers from the Tour Card Holder event are Stephen Bunting, Maik Kuivenhoven, Tom Sykes, Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, Niko Springer, Ricky Evans, Carl Sneyd, Bradley Brooks, Joe Cullen and Alan Soutar.
One more shot at the Worlds
Evans still has a way into the sport’s biggest stage. Having missed out through the ProTour, he needs to get through the Tour Card Holder qualifier scheduled for November 30 to reach Alexandra Palace in December. The Grand Slam runs from November 14 to 22 in Wolverhampton, and the World Championship follows from December 11 to January 3.
