Misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop
Colts backup quarterback Anthony Richardson faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge, according to court records obtained by ESPN. The records say he was arrested after a traffic stop on October 12 in Carmel, Indiana. The Hamilton County prosecutor’s office filed the charge Monday, and a bench trial is set for January 4.
Police reportedly found a small amount of marijuana and THC-infused gummies in his vehicle. Richardson told officers he smoked in the car to avoid smoking at home around his children, per the report.

The Colts respond
The club kept its statement short. “We are aware of the situation involving Anthony Richardson and are currently gathering additional information,” the Colts said. There is no word yet on any team or league discipline, and the charge is still only an allegation until the case is heard.
A quiet stretch on the field
Richardson was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft, yet his on-field résumé is short. He has not started since 2024 and has completed one pass since the end of that season. His career line stands at 8-7 as a starter with 2,400 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Indianapolis, at 2-4 and on a two-game losing streak, is led by Daniel Jones and travels to Minneapolis on Sunday to face the unbeaten Vikings.
