Two more years for the captain
Barcelona have made it official. Raphinha has signed a new deal that runs to 2030, two years longer than the contract he had, which was due to expire in 2028. The club announced the extension on Thursday.
The Brazilian arrived from Rennes in 2022 and wears the armband for the first time this season. In September he had already said he wanted to end his career in Catalonia, and the new deal follows through on that.

The Flick effect
At 29, Raphinha is the focal point of the attack. He has scored 15 goals in 10 La Liga games this season, numbers that explain the new contract. Since Hansi Flick took over in 2024 he has gone from a winger who creates to a finisher who decides matches, and the club clearly intends to keep him through the next phase of the project.
He was also one of the standouts, with Lamine Yamal, in Barcelona’s Champions League game against Aston Villa.
