Eupen is now fully under Qatari control
Fourteen years. That is how long Qatari money has been behind KAS Eupen, and as of Thursday the arrangement is no longer shared with anyone. Qatar Sports Investments has completed its takeover of the club from Liege province, currently in the Belgian second division, and is now sole owner. The announcement arrived in an official statement sent to the media.
QSI is no stranger here. The fund had already been running the club’s sporting side since December 2025. Nine months of oversight before taking the keys outright. The statement spells out what was done in that period: a stronger sporting structure, tweaks to the first-team squad, promotion of young players out of the academy, new commercial deals signed.
The Aspire Zone Foundation took control of the German-speaking club back in 2012. Thursday’s handover closes that chapter without really cutting the ties.

Three clubs, and no rush to make it four
Eupen joins Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting de Braga in the fund’s football holdings. QSI also owns several padel circuits. Nasser Al-Khelaifi has overseen the whole lot since the PSG takeover in 2011.
The statement sets out what comes next: QSI says it wants to work with the club’s leadership, players, staff, fans and local partners to build on the foundations laid since December. The message is growth over flash. No quick headline-grabber, just a longer play.
A network model that keeps spreading
Multi-club ownership is everywhere in Europe now. City Football Group, Red Bull, RedBird, Textor: the networks keep growing, and the authorities trail behind them at a snail’s pace. QSI has moved more slowly than its rivals, with just three clubs in the stable, but each purchase has had a clear purpose.
For Eupen, the target is domestic. The club wants back into the Belgian top flight. A single owner, able to invest without clearing every move through internal politics, changes the picture for a second-division budget.
