Three maps, three wins
France booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Overwatch World Cup overnight in Anaheim, California. They swept Australia 3-0 in the quarter-finals.
Les Bleus came out flying with a 2-0 win on Samoa. They then scraped through the second map 3-2 on Shambali Monastery, the only one that was properly close. They wrapped it up 2-1 on Neon Junction.
Three of the four quarter-finals ended in sweeps. South Korea dumped out the United States, while Sweden pushed Germany aside. Only Saudi Arabia had to give up a map, beating Spain 3-1.

South Korea stand in the way
The draw has set up France against South Korea on Sunday. Saudi Arabia will face Sweden in the other semi-final. The two winners will meet for the title in a grand final played in a first to four format. The losers will play off for third place, also on Sunday.
This France v South Korea clash is a rematch. The two nations already met in the group stage, with France finishing top of Group D ahead of the Koreans.
South Korea, though, are fresh from a solid quarter-final win over the United States, who topped Group A. They won 2-1 on Samoa, 1-0 on Route 66 and 2-1 on Neon Junction. No maps dropped, but hardly a stroll either.
Sixteen nations started, four remain
The tournament began with a group stage in Busan, South Korea, from 20 to 23 August. Sixteen teams were split into four groups, with the top two from each one advancing to a knockout bracket.
The United States, Germany, Australia and Spain finish in places 5 to 8. China, the United Kingdom, Canada and Denmark had already exited after the group stage, along with Japan, Mexico, Thailand and Colombia.
Prize money has not yet been announced by the organisers.
