Oettinger steadies the Stars
Dallas wrapped up a six-game homestand with a 3-1 win over Columbus on Saturday night, and Jake Oettinger made sure it stayed that way. He stopped 25 shots, nine of them in a second period where the Blue Jackets pushed hard, and finished one goal short of his fourth shutout of the season.
The Stars needed the response. They arrived on a five-game winning streak that had been broken by two one-sided losses back to back.

Rantanen opens, Hyry seals it
Mikko Rantanen scored on a power play at 1:43 of the first, after a delay-of-game penalty on Jet Greaves, with Wyatt Johnston setting him up. It was Rantanen’s team-leading seventh goal of the season. Thomas Harley made it 2-0 with his first of the year, with one second left in the period.
Columbus had its chances to change the game. A Valeri Nichushkin goal was wiped out by an offside review at 2:23 of the third, and Damon Severson cut the gap to one at 6:21, with Zach Werenski assisting. Arttu Hyry then sealed it into an empty net with one second remaining.
Greaves made 14 saves in defeat, and the Blue Jackets have now lost two in a row. Ivan Provorov made his season debut and played 19:31, after missing the first 11 games with a lower-body injury picked up in the preseason.
