A milestone in Edmonton
William Nylander scored twice at Rogers Place overnight, and the second goal made him the latest player to reach 300 in the NHL. Toronto, the club that drafted him in 2014, beat Edmonton 7-2.
The Maple Leafs spread the damage around. Jack Roslovic, Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen and Vinni Lettieri also scored, so seven goals came from six different players, and four of them arrived in the third period.

Stolarz stands tall
Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 of 32 shots against one of the league’s most feared attacks. At the other end, Tristan Jarry made 25 saves and could do little to stem the tide.
Toronto has now won four in a row and sits at 7-4-2. Edmonton, which had won three straight, falls to 8-2-1.
The Oilers’ stars keep producing anyway
The loss did not dull the numbers of Edmonton’s top two. Leon Draisaitl scored twice and now shares the league lead with Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov at 12 goals. Connor McDavid added two assists, stretching his point streak to 11 games, which is every game of the season so far, for 33 points. That is an average of three a night.
Toronto travels to Calgary on Monday, and Edmonton hosts Detroit the same night, hoping to clean up a defensive showing that clashed with its start.
