Premier League: Nottingham Forest sign Daniel Munoz for 26 million euros

Genk, 2020. Nobody was watching.

A Colombian right-back arrived in Belgium six years ago and barely made the back pages. He is now a 26 million euro transfer.

Daniel Munoz is a Nottingham Forest player. The club confirmed it on Monday: three years, with an option for a fourth. He leaves Crystal Palace, where he had been since January 2024.

Sixteen goals from a full-back

Colombia, then Genk, where he built everything. A hundred and twenty-two appearances. Sixteen goals, from right-back, which is not a position that usually troubles the scoresheet. A Belgian Cup in 2021 on top.

Palace took him in the winter of 2024 and he became a fixture almost immediately. Duels, sprints, the same relentless charge up the right touchline every week.

The Premier League never rattled him. Neither did European nights.

Forest are buying certainty, not upside

Twenty-six million for a 30-year-old full-back invites an argument. Forest are not pretending otherwise. What they get is a player who already knows the league and needs no settling-in window, which counts for a lot when there are days left before deadline.

The length is the gamble. Three years plus one, on a player who turns 34 before it expires.
