A new staff around a two-time MVP
Baltimore changed almost everything around Lamar Jackson and then asked him to keep being Lamar Jackson. He sounds untroubled by the arrangement.
Jesse Minter is the new head coach. Declan Doyle is the new offensive coordinator. Jackson told Adam Schein that the scheme handed to him is unlike anything he has run, and unlike anything opponents have prepared for.
“I just can’t wait to showcase it,” Jackson said. “I don’t believe a defense is prepared for what’s in store for them.”

Doyle gets his first real offense
The detail worth pausing on is who is actually calling it. Doyle held the offensive coordinator title in Chicago last season, but Bears head coach Ben Johnson installs that system and calls the plays himself. Minter arrives from the defensive side of the building. So this is the first offense Doyle has genuinely run.
Jackson described something built on volume of ideas rather than one central premise. “It’s a lot of moving parts, it’s guys flying around,” he said. “Everything you need in an offense, play action, dropbacks, run game, everything you need in an offensive system.”
That list is the interesting part, because Jackson’s best years came inside offenses with a single obvious identity. The 2019 team that carried him to his first MVP rushed for 3,296 yards, still the most any NFL team has produced in a season. Doyle is selling him something broader.
Nobody has seen it yet
There is no film to work from. Jackson sat out the entire preseason, which means the only people who know what this offense looks like with him operating it are the ones who watched it in practice.
Indianapolis finds out first. Baltimore opens at the Colts next Sunday, giving Doyle one week of surprise before every defensive staff in the league starts building answers from real evidence instead of guesses.
