A 10-point lead gone in under four minutes
Dallas led by 10 with 3:54 left in regulation. It lost anyway. Arizona rallied behind backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, forced overtime and won 33-30 at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon, then kicked the game-ending field goal in the extra period.
The Cowboys had been up by as many as 14 in the fourth quarter. Minshew, who replaced starter Jacoby Brissett, sparked the comeback, with running back Tyler Allgeier doing his share on the ground. Arizona scored 30 points in the second half and overtime combined.
Even then, Dallas was close to escaping. A missed extra point after Arizona’s final touchdown of regulation left the game tied rather than giving the Cardinals a lead, and the Cowboys had a chance to close it out. They did not.

A historic kind of collapse
The numbers make this one sting. It was Dallas’s first home loss this century after holding a late lead of that size. The Cowboys had won their previous 69 such games. They are now 0-5 against Arizona inside AT&T Stadium and have dropped three of their last four.
Early on, Dallas had also turned the ball over on downs on fourth-and-1 from its own 32 in the first quarter, a gamble that did not help the mood afterward.
Locker room questions
Former Cowboys backup Ben DiNucci called the loss embarrassing and said the problem is effort. Owner Jerry Jones, meanwhile, has indicated that firing coordinator Brian Schottenheimer midseason is not on the table.
The Colts, Titans and Eagles are among Dallas’s next four opponents, and the bye does not arrive until Week 14. The NFC East is still wide open, which is about the only good news for a team that just gave away a game it had in hand.
