The result and where the series stands
San Antonio got it done. The final score was 126-97 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Spurs now lead the series 3-2. Game 6 is set for Friday night in Minneapolis.
Minnesota pulled level at 61-61 early in the second half, but San Antonio responded and took control again. The margin had settled at 18 by the end of the third quarter. The win was sealed by a late 17-2 run.
How the game unfolded
Victor Wembanyama scored 16 of his team’s first 24 points. San Antonio built a 15-point lead in the first quarter. That advantage grew to 18 during the second period (58-40), before Minnesota chipped away before the break. The half-time score was 59-47.
Minnesota then outscored San Antonio 14-2 coming out of the locker room. But Stephon Castle, Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper took over for the Spurs, sparking a 14-4 burst. The scoreboard read 91-73 heading into the final quarter.

Individual stats and the officiating
Victor Wembanyama put up the numbers. He finished with 27 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Rudy Gobert was hit with a level 1 flagrant foul early on. The Minnesota big man had a tough time protecting the paint against San Antonio’s attackers.
Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper scored several baskets at the rim. Keldon Johnson came up with a block on Rudy Gobert. Devin Vassell knocked down three-pointers in the fourth quarter. The team stats back up San Antonio’s edge on the glass and from deep in Game 5.
