NBA: Pistons beat Cavs in Cleveland as Jenkins drops 25

The Pistons edged the Cavs 114-110 on Sunday, January 4, 2026 in a tense, hard-fought game at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena.

First quarter to the Cavaliers

The game blew up from the jump. Cleveland grabbed the early edge, shooting their way to a 28-19 lead after the first. Donovan Mitchell did the damage, hitting big shots to keep the Cavs ahead.

Detroit blows the roof off in the second quarter

The game flipped in the second when the Pistons unleashed their offence. Fueled by a red-hot run from Daniss Jenkins — 25 points today, 21 of them in that quarter — Detroit outscored Cleveland 47-28 and walked into the locker room with a serious lead.

Cavs fight back in the second half

In the second half Cleveland pushed hard. Donovan Mitchell finished with 30, 23 of those after the break. Darius Garland added 16 points and 6 assists. They chipped away, but couldn’t erase the cushion Detroit built earlier.

Small margins decide tight games

The finish was tense. Cleveland got within two in the closing minutes, but the Pistons didn’t crack. Ausar Thompson grabbed a huge offensive board and Jenkins knocked down four free throws in the final seconds to seal it for Detroit.

This win matters. Detroit cements its spot near the top of the Eastern Conference and ends a long drought in Cleveland. The Cavs see a three-game streak halted and will need to bounce back fast.
