Twenty-four minutes of hope
Killian Corredor scored twice against his former club this afternoon. Rodez, naturally. That is about all FC Nantes will want to remember from this one.
Fourth minute, he opens the scoring. Balde levels it in the 15th. Corredor strikes again in the 24th. La Beaujoire believes. Nantes are on top, playing with purpose, and head into the break in front. Two goals to one, and nobody could call it robbery.
Then Corredor goes off injured just before half-time. Nantes lose their man of the moment, the forward who had signed through to 2030 and was carrying the team’s entire attacking threat on his own. That is where the match turns.

Forty-five minutes of collapse
Ponti equalises straight after the restart in the 47th. Nothing beyond repair yet. Then Dupe completely fluffs his lines in the 71st and Balde pounces to put the visitors ahead. Two minutes later, the same Balde completes his hat-trick.
The final blow lands in stoppage time. Sow puts through his own net. Five-two.
Three games, three defeats for Michel Der Zakarian’s side. Zero points. Nantes had already lost their first two matches, but shipping four goals in one home half changes the scale of the mess. Rodez, meanwhile, make it two wins from three, with Balde bagging a hat-trick away from home. Nobody had that one circled.
Metz rescue a point with ten men
In the other game this afternoon, FC Metz dodged the worst against Laval. Maggiotti had put the visitors ahead in the 49th minute and the Maroons spent much of the afternoon banging their heads against Laval’s wall.
Pape Moussa Fall finally levelled it in the 78th. Metz then finished the match a man down, hanging on to that point like it was a win. One apiece is hardly headline stuff. But compared with what was happening in Nantes at the same time, it almost feels like a good day.
