From the Roland-Garros clay to the boardroom
Rafael Nadal is going to work for Real Madrid. The club announced on Wednesday that the retired tennis great will join its board of directors, with the appointment due to be validated at the members’ general assembly on 21 November.
Real called him one of the greatest legends in sport and one of the most admired Spanish athletes in the world, adding that the club and its supporters are proud to have someone of his stature contribute to its present and future. Nadal, an honorary member, answered on social media. He accepted the offer with great enthusiasm, he wrote, and wants to learn and help as much as he can.

A rumour that finally became real
The idea has been around for years. Nadal retired from tennis in 2024 after 22 Grand Slam titles, including a record 14 at Roland-Garros, and he has never hidden how much Real Madrid mean to him. He holds member card number 67778.
Each time the question of a role at the club came up during his career, he stayed vague. It would be a dream, he would say, but it was not on the agenda. That has now changed.
