Munoz is 23 and holding a strong hand. He came from Real Madrid and adapted to English football faster than most arrivals from the continent manage. Then he won the World Cup with Spain over the summer.
That last part changes everything about how a squad reads you. Players who lift trophies in July do not spend August worrying about the team sheet. The ones who do worry sound nothing like this.
Liverpool did not buy a replacement
The timing is the interesting bit. Liverpool committed 145 million euros to Barcola while Munoz was still settling in. That is not a club solving a problem, it is a club stacking the deck. The wide rotation this season will be unforgiving, and nobody is guaranteed anything beyond the next 90 minutes.
Two internationals of that level out wide gives Liverpool a depth most of Europe cannot match. Whether Munoz still sounds this relaxed in November, when the team sheets start doing the talking, is another question.
