A double done and dusted at MotorLand
Marc Marquez won the Aragon Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon at MotorLand, near Alcaniz. The Ducati Lenovo rider completed the 23 laps 1.754 seconds clear of Pedro Acosta. Marco Bezzecchi, who started on pole, finished third on his Aprilia.
It was a perfect weekend for the No. 93. He had already won Saturday’s sprint. Thirty-seven points banked in two days. That makes it his third double of the season.
The start, though, was anything but clean. Marquez attacked at the first corner, just as he had the day before. He later admitted in parc ferme that he had left the rear ride-height device engaged. Bezzecchi slipped back ahead at Turn 3. Jorge Martin then barged the Ducati aside. Aprilia led 1-2 after a few bends.

Acosta held on to the end
Marquez put things right at the end of the opening lap by getting back past Martin. On lap six, he swept by Bezzecchi at Turn 15. The pair ran side by side down the back straight at more than 300 km/h before the Aprilia finally gave way. Acosta took advantage and went around Bezzecchi on the outside.
The KTM then clung to the Ducati. On lap 10, the two riders posted exactly the same lap time. At halfway, less than a second covered the top three.
Then Marquez started pumping in fastest laps. Acosta and Bezzecchi had no answer. The gap opened up all the way to the chequered flag. Alex Marquez finished fourth, with Martin fifth for the second time this weekend.
The title race tightens up
Martin stays top with 256 points. Marquez moves up to second on 237, 19 behind. Bezzecchi is third on 232. Three riders are separated by just 24 points.
Behind them, Fermin Aldeguer took sixth on his return to competition, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Enea Bastianini passed Diogo Moreira on the final lap to snatch eighth place. Francesco Bagnaia crashed out early, but was unhurt. Raul Fernandez retired after a third of the race.
Next up is Misano in two weeks. The Italian track runs clockwise, and that matters: this season, all but one of Marc Marquez’s podiums have come on anti-clockwise circuits. Every single one ended in victory.
