A first win since Qatar 2024
Alonso Lopez had not won a Moto2 race in almost two years. His previous victory came at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. At MotorLand Aragon on Sunday he took pole, led all 19 laps and finished 0.8 seconds clear of Izan Guevara. He fractured a hand only a few weeks ago.
The pole was his first in three years, and he converted it into the holeshot without difficulty. The front of the race then settled for the opening third: Lopez, Guevara, Daniel Holgado and championship leader Manuel Gonzalez in the top four, with Collin Veijer and David Alonso just behind.
By lap 5 the top nine riders were covered by a little over two and a half seconds. Lopez responded with the fastest lap of the race to that point and pushed his advantage past half a second.

Gonzalez loses ground on a day he needed points
Lap 10 opened everything up. Veijer moved past Holgado for third at Turn 16. David Alonso attacked Gonzalez at Turn 1, forcing the championship leader wide into Turn 2, and Senna Agius took the place. A lap later Alonso disposed of Holgado as well.
Veijer’s afternoon ended with a fast crash at Turn 4 shortly after losing third place. Gonzalez, meanwhile, came close to contact with his own teammate at Turn 1 and sat seventh with five laps left. He recovered one position.
Sixth place carries a cost. Gonzalez still leads the standings on 207.5 points, but Guevara’s runner-up finish trims the gap to 32.5 with the Misano and Red Bull Ring double header ahead. Agius holds third on 149.
The last lap decided the podium
Guevara and David Alonso fought over second place all the way to the flag. They went at each other at Turn 8, the Yamaha rider holding firm. A mistake into Turn 14 then cost Guevara his exit through Turn 15 and handed Alonso a run down the 0.9km back straight. The Colombian threw his Kalex up the inside, carried a fraction too much speed, and Guevara swept back through to bank 20 points.
Ivan Ortola completed the top five behind Agius. Holgado took seventh, Deniz Oncu eighth after starting 18th, Alex Escrig ninth and Adrian Huertas tenth. Joe Roberts, the leading American in the class, finished 12th.
