Ligue 1: Camara back in training at Monaco, Balogun still absent

A hug in the warm-up, 24 hours after a collapsed move

Lamine Camara was back on the training pitch on Wednesday morning in La Turbie. The Senegalese midfielder took part normally in the first group drills. His team-mates wrapped him up in the warm-up. He got through the session without any issues.

The 22-year-old has just come through a rough day. His move to Chelsea fell apart on Tuesday, in the final hours of the window. The two clubs had an agreement in place. The deal never got over the line.

So Monaco keep a starter they thought they had sold, and the club have put him straight back in with no obvious hangover.

Balogun still missing

Folarin Balogun was not with the group. The American striker had already skipped the previous collective sessions, and his absence on Wednesday stretches a standoff that has now run for several days.

Balogun had been close to a move to Everton. Talks went right to the wire between the two clubs. They never came off. The United States international is still under contract, still training away from his team-mates.

The Monaco staff will have to make a call soon. A striker kept out of the group starts to weigh on a dressing room fast, especially in September.

Ansu Fati continues his comeback

One other familiar face turned up. Ansu Fati was back in training, still working his way back after a season in which he has yet to play a single minute.

The schedule offers no breathing room. Monaco head to the Parc des Princes in two days to face PSG, with a squad that still looks a long way from settled.
