Twenty minutes was all it took
Minnesota United led for 13 minutes. That was all Saint Louis gave up on the night before turning the game on its head and winning 4-2.
Tomas Chancalay stunned everyone in the 5th minute. A run in behind two defenders in midfield, a long switch from Joaquin Pereyra, and a right-foot finish into the centre of the net. The Argentinian’s fourth goal of the season.
Saint Louis had started fast enough, though: Drake Callender had already been forced into three saves inside the opening four minutes. The shot count in the first half ended 10-1 to the home side.

Three goals in 20 minutes, then the brace
Daniel Edelman equalised in the 18th by bundling in the rebound from a long-range Carlo Holse strike. Four minutes later, Holse picked out the far top corner with a curling left-foot effort from the right edge of the box. Then Rafael Navarro lofted Callender with a finish over the keeper after Holse slipped him in behind the back line, yes, him again.
After the break, both sides traded penalties. Navarro, brought down by Michael Boxall, buried his spot kick under the bar for his second straight brace. Kelvin Yeboah answered from 12 yards for his 13th goal of the season after a foul by Jaziel Orozco.
Navarro joined Saint Louis this summer from Colorado for a fee believed to be $12 million. The club is starting to see why.
A run stretching back to 3 May
Saint Louis City (11-6-8, 41 points) have not lost since a 2-0 defeat at Austin FC on 3 May. Since then: 10 wins, five draws, no losses. Roman Burki had just one save to make on the night.
It was also the first time in club history that Saint Louis have beaten the Loons at home. They had lost their first three meetings there.
Minnesota (7-10-8, 29 points) have now lost three in a row. The Loons hit the woodwork twice through headers from Anthony Markanich and Maurice Malone, then finished with 10 men after defender Kyle Duncan was sent off for a second booking in the 80th minute.
