Activated before the Twins series
Kyle Teel rejoined the Chicago White Sox active roster today, reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of a three-game home set against the Minnesota Twins. Drew Romo went to Triple-A Charlotte in the corresponding move, though multiple reports have him staying with the club on the taxi squad.
Teel had not caught a major league inning since July 20, when he sprained his left high ankle on a play at the plate during a road win over the Texas Rangers. Forty-six days later, the 24-year-old walks back into a lineup that has spent most of the summer without him.

A season that never got going
The numbers explain the frustration. Teel has appeared in 19 games this year. Nineteen, out of more than 130 played. He is hitting .190 with two home runs and 14 RBIs, a line that tells you nothing about the player Chicago thought they had after his rookie season in 2025.
The damage started before the season did. He opened the year on the injured list with a right hamstring strain picked up at the World Baseball Classic. He then sprained the LCL in his right knee during a rehab session in May, which pushed his season debut back to June 22. Four weeks after that, the ankle went.
Romo, 25, covered most of that ground in his first year with the organisation and found it heavy going himself: .141 across 60 games, with five doubles, seven home runs, 16 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
What September is actually for
Chicago are not chasing October. They are chasing information. Teel came over from Boston as the headline piece of the Garrett Crochet trade, and a club in the middle of a rebuild needs to know whether the catcher it built that deal around can stay upright for a full year.
Three weeks of at-bats will not answer that. They will give the front office something to look at before the winter, which is more than it has had since July.
