A goose wanders onto the field at Wrigley Field undefined

An odd scene unfolded Monday night in Chicago during the Cubs-Phillies clash. In the third inning, a goose decided to make itself at home in left field, sitting right between shortstop and third base. The bird, clearly unbothered by the ballgame going on around it, forced officials to keep the game rolling despite the unexpected winged intruder.

Almost perfect defensive positioning undefined

It got even funnier when Michael Busch sent a ball straight toward the animal. The ball landed just a few feet from the goose, forcing Philadelphia outfielder Brandon Marsh to react fast and scoop up the bounce. Only then did the surprise guest finally take off and clear the grass, with commentators laughing at its excellent sense of defensive positioning.

A familiar face back in Chicago?

The sight instantly brought back memories for local fans. Exactly one year ago, another goose was spotted nesting under the center-field scoreboard, and at the time it earned the nickname Suzuki in honor of the Cubs player. Some are already wondering whether this latest visitor should be called Marsh to mark the occasion. Let’s just hope that next time it picks a foul area, so it does not end up in the path of a rocket.
