MLB – 2026 Predictions: Total bedlam after five weeks
Barely a month ago, it all looked mapped out. Today? It feels like my predictions got hurled into a parallel universe. The 2026 season has decided to mess with everyone: the heavyweights are stumbling, the cellar dwellers are sitting on top, and common sense has taken a holiday. Here is the chaos meter across MLB’s divisions.
NL East: Atlanta’s runaway train
Simple really, the Braves aren’t playing in the same league. With a historic 25-10 start, they already hold a 9.5-game lead over the rest of the division. Meanwhile, the Phillies and Mets, who were supposed to be battling for the big prizes, are scrapping just to avoid last place. Is the suspense already dead in Georgia? For now, Atlanta is the only team in the group with a winning record. It’s madness.
AL West: The A’s on top, the Astros in free fall
Everyone had the Mariners steamrolling the American League. Bad luck, Cal Raleigh is on the injured list and the team has stalled. In their place, you’ve got… the Oakland A’s! Led by Nick Kurtz, they own the most exciting offense in the league. But the real shock is Houston’s collapse. Once famous for its rotation, the Astros now have the worst ERA in MLB and are flirting with a 100-loss season.
Try it for $0.99.
NL Central: Upside down world
This is the wildest stat of the early season: by the start of May, every team in the division was over .500. Yes, even the Pirates, who haven’t won a playoff series since 1979, and the Cardinals, who were supposed to be deep into a rebuild. Nobody wants to lose in this division, and that makes the race completely impossible to call.
AL East and Central: The Yankees are back on their throne
In the East, order is restoring itself. The Yankees are in control and are even waiting for Cole and Rodon to come back. The surprise is Tampa Bay keeping pace, while Boston has already shown its manager the door. In the Central, it’s the usual traffic jam: everyone is within 1.5 games. Cleveland is plugging away while Detroit and Kansas City are struggling to find any rhythm.
NL West: Dead calm
At last, a division that respects the hierarchy. The Dodgers are out front, the Padres are decent, and the Giants are a touch disappointing. It’s the only part of the standings that doesn’t feel like an episode of *The Twilight Zone*. The Dodgers at the top is the one safe bet you can actually trust with your paycheque.
