MLB – Misiorowski’s 102 mph showdown sets a new gold standard.

Jacob Misiorowski blows up the radar gun, but the Brewers are left in the cold

If youve already been clocked at 104.3 mph in the playoffs, a 102.7 mph fastball in mid-April should almost feel ordinary. For Jacob Misiorowski, though, it was historic. On Saturday night, despite the Brewers’ 6-3 extra-inning loss to the Pirates, the 24-year-old right-hander shattered a mark, throwing the fastest strikeout ever recorded by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008.

A rocket arm and ice-cold composure

From the first pitch, Misiorowski went full throttle, blowing Oneil Cruz away with a 102.7 mph fastball and wiping out Tarik Skubal’s mark from last year. And the Milwaukee giant didnt stop there. In the same inning, he did it again against Brandon Lowe with another strikeout at 102.2 mph. Its the first time a starter has stacked multiple strikeouts above 102 mph in a single inning.

For all the ridiculous numbers, the man himself barely blinked. “OK, cool,” he said after being told about his records. With nine strikeouts in the outing, he moves alone to the top of MLB with 51 strikeouts this season.

Costly mistakes and a battered injury list

For all that heat, it wasnt perfect. Misiorowski gave up three runs in six innings, paying for two hit batsmen who both ended up scoring. “I didnt think I hit him,” he said of the sixth-inning turning point, but New York’s video review ruled otherwise. For manager Pat Murphy, though, the bigger picture matters more: his young ace showed he can battle even when the tide is against him.

The Brewers are just trying to hang on

The real issue in Milwaukee is the offense. Without their top power bats like Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich and Andrew Vaughn, all injured, the Brewers have now gone six straight games without a home run. Thats their longest drought since 2015. Four losses in a row and 11 defeats in their last 16 outings have left the club in a rough patch. “Were just trying to survive until the guys get back,” Misiorowski summed it up. Right now, his arm is about the only thing in Wisconsin generating any heat.
