Tevez says he has got both deals done
Carlos Tevez dropped the news live this weekend. The former Argentina striker is staging his farewell match in December 2026 at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires. He says Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have both agreed to turn out for the same side on the day.
“I’ve always dreamed of seeing Cristiano and Leo playing on the same team. They’re the two greatest players of all time,” he said. He then laid out how he went about it: “I reached out to them, especially Cristiano. I told him: Cristiano, I want you and Leo on the same team for my farewell match. He said he’d be there. Getting Leo on board wasn’t hard either.”

The only man who could make both phone calls
Few players could have pulled off that double act. Tevez shared a dressing room with Messi for Argentina, most notably during the Olympic gold medal run in Beijing in 2008. He also played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United between 2007 and 2009, where the pair lifted the Champions League together in 2008.
The two men ruled world football for 15 years without ever wearing the same shirt. They crossed paths in La Liga, in the Champions League, on Ballon d’Or podiums. Just never on the same side.
December date set for Buenos Aires
The setting matters. La Bombonera remains the home of Boca Juniors, the club Tevez loves, the place where he started out and later finished his playing career. Now a coach, the Argentine is promising an emotional night.
“I can’t wait. This match will be emotional,” he said. The only question now is whether the schedules will actually line up by December. Neither player has confirmed anything publicly yet.
